TUJU – WHERE REBADGING DOES NOT WORK

TUJU – WHERE REBADGING DOES NOT WORK

TuJu may be a Malaysian app, but we must ask: how deep does its technological autonomy truly go?

If its underlying infrastructure, mapping frameworks, or cloud ecosystems still lean heavily on foreign tech giants, changing the brand does not automatically equal true technological independence.

Rebadging may make sense in industries like automobiles, where we can start with someone else's technology while gradually learning to build our own. But with AI, digital platforms, and navigation apps, the situation is different.

If the foundational technology and data architecture remain tied to foreign providers, a local label alone does not give us digital sovereignty.

If we are serious about protecting our data and securing our digital future, we must be prepared to build our own capabilities from the ground up. This requires hard work, creativity, talent, time, and resources.

There are no shortcuts to genuine technological independence. We must be willing to do the hard work, not merely take the easy way out.

Peace,

Anas Zubedy
