Malaysia can be faulted for a number of things. But
one thing that we definitely got it right and are undisputedly faultless in is
our food. We have one of, if not the best selection of food available to the
masses.
Unlike in many other countries where the search for a
certain kind of food would require an extensive exploration, here in Malaysia
we are blessed with good food almost literally a few stones throw away
everywhere we are. You name it, we have it all here.
During lunch hours, you can see all sorts of people
enjoying all sorts of food. You can see Abu enjoying his cheese naan at a
nearby mamak joint, Kamala buying chap fan takeaway, and Ah Lim savouring nasi
lemak with a cup of sirap limau.
For your afternoon tea, if you feel like enjoying a
cuppa or hot coffee, there are many options available to you. There is the more
generic chain of Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves that will serve your
Earl Greys or lattes with a side of almond biscotti. And there is also the
kopitiam for you to enjoy your tea break with a cup of kopi O with some
toasts spread with seri kaya.
If you want a fine dining experience in a posh
setting, we have an array of world-class restaurants located in either hotel
establishments or in hotspots like Bukit Bintang or Damansara area. However, if
what you are looking for is the more gritty street food serving common meals as
enjoyed by the plebeian Malaysians, there are always places like Jalan Alor or
Kampung Baru.
And our eateries typically operate till late hours,
allowing patrons more time to enjoy the food along with the company we are
with.
And I say, this is one of the nice things we
Malaysians enjoy.
