Bringing Malaysians from different backgrounds together
WHAT?

In conjunction with the #SaySomethingNice campaign during the Hari Merdeka – Hari
Malaysia season, we want all of you to participate in organising a unity
themed event called #HostSomethingNice.
The idea is simple : host a get together, makan-makan or rumah terbuka at your house, office,
local parks or any other preferred place and invite friends, colleagues and
acquaintances from different races and cultural background to join you to celebrate Hari Merdeka and Hari Malaysia.
WHY?
We want to create
moments of unity. Even though we are surrounded by a melting pot of
cultures, we might not get many chances to get to know and engage with each
other. #HostSomethingNice is an
initiative to encourage Malaysians to practice what we are good at; being
among friends, telling stories and enjoying food. We hope that it will bring us closer
together by promoting mutual respect and understanding as well as provide a
more holistic environment for our children, by encouraging them to mingle and
befriend those from different backgrounds. Share the photos and stories of your event on social media or any
other platforms to encourage others to follow suit!
WHEN?
Get-togethers will be conducted and highlighted during the
17-day campaign period from 31st
August – 16th September. Having said that, we encourage
Malaysians to #HostSomethingNice
all year round!
