Tale of a busload full of Bangladeshi voters

A friend’s family friend owns a tour company. Here’s their story.
  1. On May 5, 2013, A tour bus with 42 Indian national tourists traveling from Johor to Kuala Lumpur for a short KL tour. And then From KL they were going to Genting Highlands. The bus is a bonafide tourist coach.
  2. While in KL the tour guide who is a Malaysian wanted to vote. He was registered at Bukit Indah, Ampang. He got permission from his tour company to stop by and vote. Therefore he parked the bus full of the Indian national tourists about 500 metres from the poll station (Bukit Indah school). the bus driver and the tourists waited in the bus.
  3. While waiting for the tour guide to finish, some members of PKR and PAS (they were wearing tshirts with the party logo) asked the driver to come down and explain why they were there, in the meantime, the rest of the PR members went into the bus and started questioning the passengers in a very harsh and rude manner, accusing that they are illegal voters.
  4. They forced all the passengers to come down from the bus, but the bus driver insisted that the tourists stay in the bus. Then PR people insisted on holding up the tourists and the bus.
  5. Then they started arguing and yelling at each other. The bus owner came. By this time, there was a huge crowd outside the bus. All from the same political party. The youth members were the rudest ones. Without questioning, they assumed those are phantom voters.
  6. Then they started spreading the news around, taking pictures video, uploading it on FB, etc - saying that there are phantom voters in Ampang.
  7. They almost got into a physical fight, but the bus owner managed to sort everything out and the PR people escorted the bus out of Ampang.
  8. This entire commotion went on for about 1 hour and no policemen came even though the police station is only about 150 metres away.

My note:

My dear Malaysians, we can be better than this. We have the capacity to respect foreigners. Even those who come here to make a living in our nation of plenty as labourers; remember, many of our forefathers were just like them. We need to heal ourselves from hatred, arrogance and racism.

Thank you.

p/s:Malaysians will believe that AA can fly 40K Bangladeshis with 100 flights without disrupting their already very tight schedule but not a tour guide stopping for half an hour to cast his vote. Malaysia Boleh :)

This story sounds totally unbelievable. A busload of presumably fare paying tourists made to wait by the roadside while the tourguide takes a break to vote? And nobody complains? How long was the average voting line? Anything from 30 minutes to an hour? I suppose this serves to explain the many other busloads of fare paying tourists who were also left by the roadside while their tour guide votes?

Why didnt the tour bus owner and operator come out in the open immediately to disclose this ?

My comment on both sides:

- Agreed. I think Malaysians could have done better than this. We used to be foreigners-friendly and we should continue to be (Save for those who come to cause trouble).

- The Indian tourists bus, bad timing. The tour guide should show professionalism and should not put the tourists at risk given the strong political sentiment during election, though I'm glad that the tour guide insisted to exercise his voting right.

I think party supporters were too harsh but to some extent they shouldn't be blamed. The one who created phantom voters (I'm sure there are real cases) should responsible for such saddening case, but I don't think they care.

This is really crazy beyond comprehension, uncivilised and totally not a norm in malaysian society.ANWAR being their cifu can choose to pack get out of Malaysia if he really feels Malaysia is being administered by corrupt govt. After all Uncle Sam welcomes him any time.

This story has become urban legend. Heard it first time on polling day and the most recent last night. Last night's version was the one with the police escorting the 'phantom voters' away.

Hmm, stop by to vote, inconvenience to paying customers,in Ampang, urban area, probably take hours to cast a vote.if i was in that bus i ll scream in protest from waiting.come on, gotta do better than that to convince people otherwise.

The simplest sure way to determine whether the tourists are genuine or not is simply to ASK one or two persons to show passports or india identities if any and case settled.Don't tell us none of them carried passport or any India identities, air tickets, Rupees, none could little english too.In the absence of these things, can't blame the worried crowds these may be phantom voters.

Anonymous said...

The story doesnt gel. If you were the tourist, would you let the tourist guide exercise his right while you wait in the bus? Depending on the queue, you could be waiting for a few hours in the bus twiddling your thumbs. Remember, you paid for the vacation in a foreign land and waiting at polling station is not in your itinerary.

Nice try, Anas.

The tour guide is a real idiot, I will say.

Could he not have proactively told the police there of the situation and asked for protection?

The police would have handled the case better, if the guide had done this.

Its no use blaming the PR folks who are suspicious with evrything and anything.

... as always, this is an example of PR's slimy, cowardly, manipulation of the truth.

there is no such thing as a coincidence.

without a doubt, the tour agent and tour guide are in cahoots with PKR to dramatize this "phantom-less voter" issue.

... come on, wise up and don't be so naive, man!

PR publicized the issue and yet, tour-agent&tour-guide allowed a busload of Indian tourists to park so close to a polling station?

furthermore, the police weren't called, even though a police station is nearby!

come on... we weren't born yesterday, man.

definitely, a PR soap-opera... and, as usual, a badly scripted one... too obvious to be anything but(t)!

Anwar Ibrahim is a real pain in the butt... and, Saiful will vouch for that!

Actually what happened was the tour guide conned the Indian tourist to pay extra for the authentic Malaysian Mother of All General Election feel..otherwise how can 1 whole busload of tourist can sit quietly and wait? :>

cerita 1) pihak perompak (pr) 101% percaya & cerita 2) pihak penyamun (bn) pun percaya habis.

Anas,

Let me tell you my points...

1) there were movement by voters from KK Airport to KLIA and Subang... i have a friend who works in Sabah witness this movement of foreigners working in plantation sector...indons, filipinos and banglas given IC and vote in peninsular...

Risda under Rahim Thambi Chik were moving this voters from KLIA using Risda vans...

2) My brother works in MAS (pilot) but international sector... he is aware of charter flights KK to KLIA involving foreigners..

3) I saw myanmar refugee UNHCR, most likely Rohingya origin from her accent voted in Bukit Bintang Parliamentary seat... she came in with BN given slip (written her name , no saluran etc), she did not queue up to take the nombor saluran slip unlike us citizens... she was standing in front of me, holding KL IC no 14...come on dude...myanmar born in KL ???

4) these movement of voters via buses happening more frequently since 1999... i waited close to 1 1/2 hour to vote even though i went to polling station at 730am... You think these tourists have to wait for the guide to finish voting?? Even if its true, its very irresponsible to bring these tourists waiting nearby polling area.

5) Myself prepared to be asked whether i am foreigner or not, people might think i am a Bangladeshi... I brought my msian passport together with my IC, just in case. i was prepared to tell msian history if needed to... For me , i wont feel insulted if PR ppl ask me questions... What I feel insulted is SPR and BN doing all these crap things and causes us losing insanity and trust on the system....

Sekian...

Sambung lagi,

Regarding the transfer of voters from KK to KLIA, there is 5 internal emails by the Air Asian CEO lady and MAS... mentioning Tony's name and the PMO... and estimated 30000 people to transfer back n forth KK to KLIA...

So wat u say Anas, until today, all 3 parties not admitting or denying saying these emails are false or does not dare to lodge police report against PR... This emails were leaked by people in Air Asia, MAS and PMO themselves who were disgusted with these actions...

Furthermore, there are millions of Indons and Bangladeshi oledi working in Semenanjung.... How many thousand of them given IC and voted ???

Wat about Filipinos in Sabah??

Wallwriter said...

You can call the tour guide an "idiot" for not informing the relevant law enforcement authorities; which I'm inclined to agree with given how the situation nearly got way out of hand at one stage of the account.

However, one could also turn around and tar these PR supporters with the same brush for not reporting such highly suspicious activity to the police as well.

Also, did the PR people manage to verify that the tour guide, bus driver or suspect passengers were carrying myKads with the intention of casting an illegal vote?

Given that they were released without intervention from law enforcement and without further incident, I think a reasonable individual would be able to work out the logical conclusion.

Bro, good point and well planned, so any of the "bijik merah" want to add anything, any other smart replies? ha ha ha

kalau nak kelentong pun....pakailah otak betul betul.....like this all tour operators will say I parked my bus load full of tourists by the roadside to take a pee or vote for one hour....

We don't know how old is the tour guide. This could be his first time to vote.

As a first timer, who is super excited, and have no experience on how long will it take to cast a vote, he definitely will try his best, and be so sporting so that the tourists will like him and let him do his duty as a citizen.

A half-hour break could do no harm, if they like him so much. Plus, this opportunity will only come every 5 years.

Wallahuaklam.

Just wondering, knowing that voting could take hours, Isn't that the correct thing to do, is then to drop these tourist in some shopping center or some tourist spot for them to shop or makan first before the guide detour to vote?

Anas, after the so-called 40,000 Bangladeshis arrived, they were housed in the 40,000-capacity Merdeka Stadium before being brought by 1000 buses to polling stations.

After casting their votes, these 40,000 Banglas were then transported by 1000 buses to Air-Asia Terminal in Sepang where the 100 Air-Asia were queuing right from 5pm to the next few days.

There were also congestions at Dacca International Airport where, just like in Sepang, Pakatan spies were busy checking the identities of all the 40,000 Banglas.

You will not believe it, but of all the 40,000 Banglas who were flown in and out and served with tosai, roti canai and capati in 100 mamak shops throughout throughout their week long stay in Malaysia, the trully Malaysia Boleh Pakatan spies and thugs could only tangkap the One busload of so-called Banglas in Ampang, and a fake Bangla by the name of Ali Mydin in Rawang.

And Ali Mydin, oh wholly gosh, is a PKR "bangla" member who was harrassed by PKR thug before he finally was able to vote for Pakatan.

Anas, please forgive these pakatan sickfellas, they only want to believe what they want to hear. So, spare them lah.

Malaysia Boleh, but Pakatan Lain Kali Lah.

I think Pakatan had suspected Tony F to be a Bangladeshi, hence the 40k Bangladeshis via 100 Air-Asia flights.

Proof: Indo-mee and maggie mee were out of stock during the week.

We as Malaysians can definitely do much, much better. The various propaganda played out in the weeks prior to the elections had already cast doubts in the majority of minds. Sadly, it has come to a point when the most incredulous stories can be believed without a flicker of a doubt. It has bred hate, although most will deny this.

I for one am eagerly waiting for Bersih to come forward with their findings on electoral fraud, which counters the earlier opinion of free and fair elections by the independent observers.

---what damn bloody right do PR ppl or whoever who are not authorize, to ask for IC.

---yourself may not care, but others have their rights not to be asked illegally like that. What a dumb suggestion. There were so many quarrels between people during queuing up.

An you know what, these mata sepet racist chinese kiasus had tried to ask and harass only dark skin voters. This is an insult, color discrimination, rude, racist as though only the dark skin are possible culprits while the yellow skin sepet are all legal people. What i know, there could possibly be thousands of china dolls overstaying and voting for DAP.

Well done Anas, this shows many PR supporters are being instigated in their decision of who to vote for in their constituencies. The weaknesses and strenghts of both BN and PR were not properly evaluated before they vote. The strong hatred campaign strategies of PR over the ineffective strategies of BN has led to this tsunami (whether called Chinese, Urban, Malaysian, Internet media, Facebook they are all correct depending on which aspect you are looking at it, remember the story of the elephant with 6 blind men?

To unknown, u r full of BS. Senang buat general statement ya. Tak payah quote ur brotherla, charter flights from kk to klia is normal. Even anwar chartered flight from kk to klia. Can u verify who is inside the plane?

Ur fren who works in sabah witness the movement of foreign workers working in plantation sector - another general statement that my 6 year old son can make. Did ur fren ask the "aliens" each n every one of them from which sector ther come from? I have a fren in sabah too. Could it be the same guy?? And then suddenly rahim thamby chik came in the picture. Hmmm...
And can u show us the 5 internal emails here please. Nak juga baca. 30k people transferred via plane. How many trip is that and since when.

U met with myanmar unhcr, probably myanmar from her accent. How do u know she is myanmar unhcr. Did she showed u her refugee card un card ke. And u strike a converstion with her ke.she did not que up but she was standing in front of me - did u mean to say she appear out of the blue suddenly in front of u?

Well, unknown, if u have all theses proofs why dont u make a press conference to disclose ur allegations. Looking forward to see it.

Nice Try!

Who would ever believe that a bus load of fare paying passengers will wait for hours in a bus by the roadside for a tour guide to vote.

Any intelligent person will be able to see through this ridiculous attempt to explain the situation.

Ask yourself this question. Will you allow a fare paying tour bus to interrupt your holiday trip just to allow the tour guide to vote without knowing how long the waiting in the queue will be????

Purely idiotic attempt to cover up an exposed attempt to commit an unacceptable adventure!!!!!!!!

From what I heard, the Chinese who stopped the bus carrying the Indian tourists were illegal immigrants themselves. They were harassing everyone, so that they can seize power and turn Malaysia into a Chinese state. And they nearly succeeded in doing it.

My own sister-in-law, a student up north in the peninsula, was sponsored to fly home to Sabah to vote. She was not alone in this - a bunch of her friends from Sabah/Sarawak got a free trip home too. Well, I dont know about the others, but I can vouch that at least one of those people flown to Sabah was definitely not a phantom voter : )
