Make Malaysia GREAT:
Take Ownership.
In our Hari
Malaysia message we discussed about commitment. For this Deepavali advert, let
us talk about taking ownership.
1. What
is taking ownership?
Taking
ownership is accepting responsibilities. We do not wait for others to take
action. We take the first step. We do not blame people or the situation or use
them as an excuse for inaction. When there is a problem at hand, we see our
part in solving it. We take personal accountability seriously. We do not only
talk, we do. We do not complain, we take action. We do not only preach, we practice.
We add value.
2. Why
take ownership?
Because we
can! We have the power and ability to do so. To build a great nation, we need
more than just a good government. We need great citizens. When individual
citizens see themselves as active participants in building the country, a
nation strives. Small acts done consistently over a period of time can create a
major impact. No nation can fail if its people take ownership.
3. How
to take ownership?
Do what we
can do first. Add value at the ground level in our daily lives. If we see a
pothole, patch it. If there is a security concern, organize a neighbourhood
watch. If our housing areas lack upkeep, organize a gotong-royong. If you have a poor family member or neighbour,
provide financial support. Link what we do and our business with charity and
nation building. Doctors, opticians, businessmen, F&B vendors, developers,
dieticians, teachers, tailors, theme park operators, hairstylist - offer your
services for free to the needy at least one day in a month. These small acts will
add up and help create a greater Malaysia.
At zubedy,
our programs and activities draw strength from our shared values and
traditions. We believe that at heart, all Malaysians want good things for
themselves and for their brother and sister Malaysians, simply because our
nation cannot prosper as a whole if some of us are left behind.
You and I,
we must take ownership and Make Malaysia
GREAT.
