When we
as Malaysians cast our ballots, we must do so by engaging both our heads
and our hearts.
The Head: Our Anchor in Fact
The head
compels us to look at the cold, hard facts. It demands that we examine the
data, scrutinize policies, and weigh the track records and long-term
consequences of our choices. Democracy flourishes only when citizens think
critically—refusing to be swayed by shallow slogans, the politics of fear, or
empty promises.
The Heart: Our Moral Compass
The heart
reminds us of our shared humanity. It provides the passion to defend what is
right, the empathy to protect the vulnerable, and the resolve to build a nation
where every Malaysian can live with dignity and hope.
A Necessary Balance
Reason
and passion must move in unison, like the rudder and the sails of a ship. If we
neglect one for the other, our journey will inevitably go astray. A nation’s
future is forged in this very way:
- Reason must be our guide.
- Passion must be our engine.
That is
why, for GE16, I make this pledge:
"I
will vote with my Head and my Heart."
